My tank finished cycling earlier this week, so I bought a clarki clown tuesday and added him to my tank with two blue damsels. Although I rearranged the rockwork, the damsels were still torturing my new clown, so I removed them and gave them to a friend with a nano sw tank. Today I went to the lfs for another clown, but all they had was a tomato, so I bought him and took him home. The guy at the lfs claimed there would be no problem between the clowns, but the big immediately started poubding the little clarki. After a few minutes he had slammed him into the sand and bitten off his side fin. Im furious, and I have no idea what the heck to do. My lfs doesnt accept returns or exchanges, but I was told there would be no problem!!! Any suggestions? This is my first and only sw tank, so I cant qt the tomato... Please help!!!

Tomatos are known to be agressive..Since you have one, thatll probably be the only type of clown you can get, I would get rid of it.

Im reading on this as we speak... I had no idea the tomato clowns were so aggressive. Still, shouldnt my lfs guy have told me?! I explained to him that I had a small little clarkii and my tank size and he claimed there would be no problem.
What should I do for my clarkii? Will he be ok? Hes swimming, but having trouble moving through the rockwork (he keeps bumping it).

I guess I will have to remove the tomato. Boy am I miffed. What a jerk!!! I trust his word, and the lfs guy really let me down. So I wasted $$$ and I have a wounded fish. Great. Hope this little clarki doesnt get sick...

You could take it back to the LFS and in a voice loud enough for everyone to hear explain how the salesman lied to you and that you want to speak to the manager. I little bad publicity might do wonders towards them making an exception to the no returns rule!!

Well look at it on the good side now your little clown fish can be called "Nemo" But ya i would put that guy on the spot make shure people are around ask him question after question. If he walks away keep walking and ask make him mad.I would or talk to the store manager and tell them there stupid and they need to close this store down or fire that guy b/c he won the idiot award

Well, I talked to the manager of the store and complained about the associate. She assured me she would talk to him and offered me store credit for my clown. Instead of accepting, I told her to keep the change, and I would simply do all my business elsewhere from now on. I still cant believe how cruel the tomato was to my little clarkii. The little guy (Rigby) is hanging in there, but hes very weak and wont move around the tank much. I have to turn off the filter in order to feed him, as the current is too strong for him. I think the tomato mightve taken a bite out of my brittle too... I found part of what appears to be an arm in my tank. Although he was fine before I bought the tomato, the brittle has been hiding in the rocks since yesterday.
:nope:

I like to ask questions I already know the answers to in order to tell how much they know. You will find that most of them are full of it.
