Bless your heart. I'm really pulling for your sweet little fish to pull through. It's so hard to watch something like that, I'm sure.
........ sending positive thoughts and prayers your way......

my freshwater cichlid actually would somtime choke on gravel too. it'd be in his mouth for days where he couldnt eat. i'd just net him out and use a tweezer to pull the rock out. the whole procudure took less than a minute. as long as u hv everything ready, its ok to take out the clownfish and get the food out. the best way to see if he is choking is to feed him. if he couldnt eat, do what i just describe. it wont hurt him one bit. just make sure u wear latex gloves when doing this.

Thanks for the replys. Well when I got up this morning the food was still stuck in his mouth. I waited until the lights turned on and watched the clown for about an hour, I could see he wasn't do so good. So after watching him perch on a few rocks "somthing he never does" I got the courage to try and get the food out myself. When I was chasing him through the rock work the other fish just watched me like they knew I wasn't after them, the other clown even helped me by pusing him out into the open. After 2 failed atempts with tweezers and chasing him around again I found my long needle nose plyers that had been missing for who knows how long. Finally with the plyers I got the piece of food out! I think it was a piece of fish, it wasn't mushy so the clown probably would have died. He is eating and doing fine now, I think I will try and breed my 2 clowns in the near future. Thanks for the concerns and sorry for the long story I'm just glad he's fine I've had him about 4 years now and he glady eats from my hand.

Awesome, congrats - you have more guts than I. I wouldn't have attempted to take the food out - but after a few days you really have no choice.
Congrats!
