Please help I.D. this

A month ago I noticed this white thing it looked like a snail out of a shell. Now I see it has left a 2 inch long white trail behind it. I have no Idea what it is. Does anyone know?? is it good? bad?

I thought maybe, but the white is a thick non porus substance. Sort of growing on a shell and moving with the shell.
