Just found it on my coral beauty and my purple psuedo is scratching. I need advice NOW! PLEASE help me out and tell me what the best thing to do is to fix this problem. I checked the water, everything is fine, but calcium was a LITTLE high(480). The lives of my fish depend on it! thanx!:(

quarantine right away. I would reommend hypo salinity (slowly get the salinity down to around 12 - 14 ppt it should kill the ICH. Make sure you do this over time! no need to kill your fish when they an be saved. HTH and good luck

The best advice I could give anybody with a problem with ick is to go over to the disease/treatment forum and seek/follow the advice of the folks over there. They are known to be extremely knowledgeable about these matters. Belive me when I say the folks over there come highly qualified to give advice on matters of fish disease treatment and prevention. Best of luck....
I will re-direct this thread over there and I hope you are able to save your affected fish.

Do the fish have ich? What are the symptoms besides scratching? How long have you had these fish? Added any new fish lately to the tank?
More info needed.

Do you see ich? You just say that the fish are scratching. How long have you had these fish? What do you see on the fish, just the scratching?

the coral beauty is the only one w/ the visible signs. I added the purple psuedo a few weeks ago, and everybody SEEMS to be getting along fine. No fighting at all. Before the new addition (psuedochromas), i had the coral beauty and my yellow watchman, abd that's all for fish. The CB is not really scratching, I just see it all over him. And this came on fast too, almost overnight. I've been thinking of taking all the fish to a QT at the lfs, seeing that I do not have one. What do yall think about a freshwater dip? I know it is a short fix usually, but while I am getting to the source of the problem, I want my fishies to live. I was thinking about the cleaner shrimp idea, I have seen them do crazy stuff to ich. I still need more info on them before I go buying them. Thanx everybody! Keep it coming. I really hate living up to my name!

Well, if your LFS will treat the fish for you, lucky you! Do they charge for that?
However, I don't have to tell you that if you plan to keep fish, you really need to get your own QT up an running.

I'm friends w/ the lfs guys here so they won't charge me, hopefully. I know, I need a QT.. Which brings up another question: Can I have a nano reef for a QT? I can't see why not.... And I mean NANO, like a couple gallons. What do you think? Thanx!
