hi there! im just new here... im planning to set up a salt water aquarium, just want to ask these things coz the last time i tried to set up a salt water aquarium all my fish died after few days.
1.) is there a minimum tank size for salt water aquarium?
2.) is it true that the bigger the tank the better?
3.) what equipments are needed to set up the aquarium? please list all necessary equipments.
4.) can you use the water in faucet to mix with the instant salt water solution? if not please teach me how to set up the water.
i will really appreciate your help, i really want to have a salt water tank. please dont use abbreviations coz im just a newbie. if it won't be much trouble if you could e-mail me the step by step process on this. thank you very much! i hope someone out there can help me!

1. There is no true minmum. Some people have nano tanks that are just a coule of gallons.
2. I think bigger is better. My tanks, until the cracked glass incident last night were a 110 and a 220. I wouldnt start with anything less then a 55 gallon myelf. When you make a mistake in a small tank it is magnifed due to the size of the tank.
3. IMO, you need tank with corner flow, lights (type will vary depending on what you want to keep), sump, protien skimmer, power heads for water circulation, heaters, thermometer, reliable test kits and a refracometer for checking salintity. Stay away from swing arm salinity testers.
4. Go with RO/DI water instead of tap water!

In addition to the equipment...... Most important piece is INFORMATION. Get a book and read up on the different facets of the hobby. Concientious marine or new marine aquariums are two good starts. Both are sold at most LFS' and pet stores. Not a bad 20 bucks spent. JMO.
The more you know, the better you will be in the end.
