oh you put it in the foood im not shure how tho if some one can help me out it has somthing to do with soaking it in selcon i thunk
Here is what I do: 1) Take frozen food cube melt it in a cup (FO) with RO water. 2) Drain food using brine shrimp net. 3) Put food back in cup add a little RO water and 1 drop of Selcon (shake Selcon well before adding). 4) Let soak for 20 minutes. 5) Feed to fish
Do you run any carbon in your filter? Why can't you do weekly maintenance to the filter? I'm not trying to a be a critic, but I have a Fluval filter on my 55. I allot 1 hour each week for my wc, filter maintenance, cleaning skimmer and misc cleaning the tank. I have never had an issue with my tank.
Oops, I completely misread a previous post. I would really consider running carbon in a least one compartment of the Fluval. I would use chemipure elite.

Are you saying you clean your canister filter every week, and swap out carbon?

No, I rinse 2 sponges in saltwater from my water change (I take one from each side) and replace the other 2. I rinse the biomax in the saltwater (one tray each week) and replace it every 3 months (I replace them at different times). I replace the carbon every 1-3 months depending on the brand I am using. I also will clean the inside of the filter as well as the lid and tubing. I have never had any issues with ammonia spiking after the maintenance or with nitrates either.

Sounds like you really stay on top of things.
.I would swap the carbon every month, I read that after a month it begins to hold the bad stuff it took out and release it back into the tank...

If I use chemi pure elite, I change it around the 3 month mark. Chemi pure elite is supposed to last longer than other carbons. The carbon I am using now gets replaced every month (I change one bag every two weeks).

I planned on buying chemi-pure elite, but i seen how expensive it was, lol.
I know it's expensive but it lasts much longer than your standard carbon. Chemi pure elite is supposed to last up to 6 months, where as the traditional carbon lasts up to one month. The chemi pure elite is also more efficient. Right now I am running standard carbon, and my tank is doing fine.
I dont see how $11 is expensive when compared to the ammount of goodness it does for your fish and your coral and your tank. If all I had to do was spend $11 every 6 weeks to ensure my fish stayed happy, healthy, and alive, then where do I sign up?
I think it looks more like lymphocystis ("cauliflower disease") than anything else. But I'm not expert!!!!! Check the "fish disease" images to see if it matches up.
Good luck!
