please help sand

i have cc and i was wondering if i could change it to the home depot beach sand they have would it effect my ph please help thanks

yeah, but you want to look for southdown (or new castle or one of the other southdown variants)...do a search of this board for 'southdown' and it'll turn up a whole lot of info--mostly what you want is something that is aragonite so that it'll help with ph buffering. if you're unsure as to if what you got is aragonite or not, put vinegar on a small sample and see if it fizzes. If so then it's aragonite.

The other one is called yardright that is the one I used and I am very pleased with it.

Thanks for the advise. We just went to the LFS and bought 2 bags of newcastle sand. It would probably cause a lot of trouble later to get sand from the department store, so we just got the right stuff. Thanks again
