That could represent a bacterial infection, but personally I don't think so. Those sharks generally hurt themselves by banging into glass because the tank is too small. Smoothhounds need A LOT of open space to swim. Unfortunately, the injury to your looks very severe and probably took a long time to get to that point. I do not know if anything can reverse the injury that has already been sustained... sorry.

BTW, please tell me that these sharks are not in your 125. If so than neither of your sharks will last too long.

Is it still eating at all????? Important to know as it may require medications in the food...but I think you may need some professional attention.
What are your nitrate levels, etc?

Sik72, don't beat yourself up if you do have these smoothhounds in a 125 gallon and I won't flame you if you post. Honestly, I am a shark lover and am concerned about your two. If this is true, you are not the first person to make a mistake like this and you won't be the last but just realize that your setup is not adequate for any free swimming shark.
My advice to you is to find a home for your healthy smoothhound soon so you may save its life. I'm not sure anything can be done for your sick shark.
Anyway, I've seen pics of your tank and its really nice. You just need to choose your fish carefully.
