i got this thinf a week ago and set it up. running well and a some bubbles in the tank even through the buble diffiser. i thought it was just break in. I had to turn it off for like a day and from noiw on whenever i turn it back on it FILLS my tank with bubbles! I can barely see the fish! I dont think that the break in on these skimmers would be this bad. I can see the microbubbles coming out of the bubble diffuser bottom. Is the bubble diffuser suppost to be under the water?
any way to stop this?
HELP!!
75 gallon tank
coralife 125 needlewheel
hang on tank style.

New skimmers need to break in, some take maybe a couple weeks to get going good, The microbubbles will disappear, although it is a hng on, you will likely get a few always.
Just leave it alone and let it work

I have a 220 and I never had a problem with bubbles. But I have it in my sump so maybe that is why. Are you sure you have it hooked up right? Specifically is your pump 3 to 4 inches under water? Is the return tube at least an inch above the sponge in the diffuser? Do you have at least a 1/4 inche of the diffuser in the water? Check all these things because as bad as you are making it sound, I would say something is wrong somewhere.

My skimmer is in my return chamber and this is how I have mine set up. I have the css220.
Bubble diffuser box is NOT touching the water. (1/4" above)
The hose that goes into the box is in there at least 1.5" into the sponge hole
Dan, I hope that helps. Barry

keep the hose 1 inch from the bottom of the difusser i tried every possible thing but it always wound up with ton of micro bubbles i used diffent sponges danner mag drive sponges they only worked for a few days finally i put it in my sump and the problem solved if you dont have a sump try keeping hose 1 inch out of bottom of the box its a fustrating thing because every time i thought i had it it would change when the water level changed lol

are the bubbles harmful at all to the fish? I have one of these and it does produce micro-bubbles, but there are not to many of them. excellent skimmer!

too many microbubbles and the bubble will form on the gills and inhibit o2 transfer. But I think it would take alot for that to happen.

I had problems with my buble diffuser too but I love the skimmer, If you have a sump set it up in that, I have mine HOB style in my sump, threw away the bubble diffuser, never did like having sponges or filter batting in my system anyhow.

Ryanhayes is that your first skimmer? You have had a few tanks and fish for a while now. I thought you had a skimmer before this. I don't remember you ever mentioning you didn't have one. In any case you will be glad you got one now for sure.
