please help

I could use some help here. I had hair algae take over my 120g tank, I treated it and now I have this redish/purple substance taking over, when I try to move a small portion of the stuff it takes sand with it. I have no idea how to get rid of it. I have attached a picture but not sure how this forum works so here is the link also

cyanobacteria.. Many people fight that battle in this hobby.. Do a search on here for it..
BTW there are many ways to treat it.. Read and choose one for yourself. You'll get many opinions on the subject.

thank you for the help, and will try your methods until it works. I already have a sump and proteinskimmer but I just got those about 2 weeks ago, once again thank you for your help
