I dosed it alot harder then what has been put on websites.A admin at -- gave me these direction and I see no ill effects from it.
1 tab for every 150 gallons. Ive used 2.5 in my 225.
There is no point in messing around with these things. We have used it enough to be fully aware of the consequences. Your crabs and shrimp are in danger as are most all pods. The pods will return soon enough. You dont want to leave any alive or they build up a tolerance to the stuff and this is where you hear of people having them return months later. they never killed them all in the first place. 2 treatments is plenty if you do it at the dosage I say and leave it in the water for a while. Be prepared for a water change 8 hours after dosing, but DONT do one unless you think you need to whcih you wont. I just say be prepared as it is the smart thing to say. This will kill them all. The second dose a week later is just to be absolutely sure.
Leave the skimmer on and runnning but just shut off or close the air so it doesnt make bubbles. after you are done with the treatment turn the skimmer back on and run carbon if you want. Although the carbon isnt necessary either unless you usually run it or want to be extra careful. You are just wanting to get the dead critters out of the water and if you have a efficient skimmer set up then all that is needed is turn the skimmer back on and let it clean up.
Dont reintroduce them. Dip ALL new arrivals. Thsi can be accomplished on one hour dips contrary to what you may hav heard. the key is mixing up a 20-50x dose of interceptor up in a 5 gallon bucket and after you grind the interceptor up mix it in a cup or two of super hot(not boiling) r0/di water. This makes the active ingredient mylbemycin much more soluble and starts going to wrok in ten minutes instead of an hour or two. 30 minutes will kill them all....the extra half hour is just to be sure.
I also recommend a close visual inpection with a magnifying glass and bright light for aefw damage. cut everying off of rubble or frag plugs and cut off any questionable tissue and toss it. dip whats left in TLF Coral Revive according to directions. I do this after the iterceptor.
I am not saying my way is the only way as there are different versions of the treatment and Im sure you already asked the questions............you do it as I say I guarantee they wont return.
Here is what I used.
Here is some sps pics 12hrs after treatment.
Polyps are starting to extend good again
