Here's the wrasse that's at work. He came in as a Pastel Coris Wrasse, but when I tried to look him up, he didn't look like the pictures I found. He's probably 5-6" and doesn't look reef safe because you can see his chompers, I'm still holding out a little hope that he is reef safe because I love him. He's awesome, and seems to have a great personality! If anyone can give me a positive ID so I can find additional information on him, it would be awesome!! Thanks in advance.

It is almost definitely a Halichoeres species. It looks like the Chameleon Wrasse (Halichoeres dispilus).

Definately not reef safe right? He has some big teeth, but I was hoping there was a chance he was reef safe...because he was awesome(we sold him today).

They are not reef safe because they may nip at feather dusters and smaller inverts. Generally okay though.

Many wrasses can go thru changes depending on ---, age, range, ect...
Its head is shaped like a type of razorfish sp.

Thanks for the info guys. We got another one in today, but no where near as nice as the first one. I would love to have one, but I know their large teeth probably mean he's not reef safe.

Wrasses are great fish but it is good to find out all you can about them before adding them....they are very big eaters!!I have 3(and I love them) and have had to make accommodations-if I had researched better I probably would have not bought my beautiful birdnose wrasse who now I am very attatched to but because of him I cannot have certain other critters I would love to have-hopefully will be setting up another tank for my wrassses! :happyfish :happyfish
