And the last side view, that shows part of the base on the rock. Hopefully it'll attach to the rock, or move back down to the sandbed, wherever it wants to be...

Time of death: Sometime in the afternoon on Friday, March 4, 2005.

Well, for over two weeks it seemed to be doing alright. It shrank down a little bit, but it had attached to a rock and seemed to be doing well. Unfortunately, it never ate. The shrimp would stick to it, but it wouldn't take it in, and eventually my clown always got away with it. So, it wasn't looking too good for the anemone. But, it was still looking alright, and the color was fading a little bit, so I was hoping it was starting to regain it's natural colors.
But, when I walked in today, it had detached from the rock and was melting. I did my best, so I can't be too down on myself. Well, better luck next time. I'll be much more careful choosing the next one, and I won't get sucked into the dyed anemone trap again!
Cheers,
Joe S.
p.s. Some of the other purple anemone's posted here lately look great, so I hope those of you with them are having better luck than me!

Sorry to hear it Joe.
Everything alright with the water quality?
Could you tell if there was any "blue" to the water after it started melting?
Keep an eye out at the LFS you purchased it from and see if they get anymore like that in, make them aware that you suspect they were dyed.

I'm pretty sure I got it out in time before it could really put too many toxins in the water. I've got a 5gal bucket of saltwater ready, so there'll be a 25% water change tomorrow just in case. Also, I've got a Remora w/ Maxi Jet 1200 on the 20gal, so I'm pulling out quite a bit anyway. So, toxins won't really be an issue for me. Now all I've got to do is wait a few days to make sure there are no problems, and then maybe I'll start the search for a new anemone.
