Can anyone tell me what this is?
It has been in my tank for about 6+ months. It has only spread to one other rock. It covers about 7 inches of the rock and is about 4-5 inches high.

It's red glaceria (sp) algea very good for fish to eat especially tangs

Would it be possible to propagate (sp) this type of algae?

it might be possable to grow it in a refugium.

I did some research on Red Gracilaria Macro Algae, I don't think this is what is in my tank. My chocolate chip starfish has since decided to eat some of this and it turned orange then white.
Anyone else have an idea what it might be?

It could be Red Hair Algea (Asparagopsis)

It looks like Red Gracilaria to me.

MY LFS sells it for $7 a bag. tangs love it.

Maybe it is, just doesn't look "spiny" like in the pictures I found. This looks more like a hair algae, not thorny or stick like.
