I actually got mine from a breeder in the Chicago suburb area for $120 for the pair. Rod Buehler was his name. Don't know if he is still breeding them, but he might still be in business.
Email me and I might be able to get you in touch with him. thejediray@aol.com

Couple questions related to this. I notice lots of the hood pictures I see have white one the inside? Is this to protect the wood? What is it, just paint?
Also do people run a peice of glass or something between the lights and water or egg crate?
What's normally done, I know splashing water can be bad, and with jumpers there are concernts.
THanks,
Bryce

When I built my canopy, I used 3/4" square stock to join the sides together. This way I could screw from the inside. I also measured up from the bottom of the canopy and decided how much of the tank I wanted to cover. I screwed the 3/4" square stock at that line and that is what supports tha canopy. So the canopy is supported by the 3/4" square stock. The back is somewhat opened. There are two narrow pieces of wood going across the back. One at the top which supports the top piece and my ballast is also mounted on the back of this piece. There is also another pice near the center of the back. I didnt want it at the very bottom because I needed clearance for the hoses and wires for the powerheads. The top piece is made up of twopieces of wood. They are hinged together with a 30" piano hinge. The front top section hinges open for easy access to my tank for feeding and whatnot.
