hi i am goin to be getting a big b/w occelaris clown this week and was planning on leaving it in my tank for a few weeks and then getting a really small b/w occelaris clowns. will they pair up? how do you get clown fish to pair up? what is the difference between a b/w occelaris and a regular occelaris? can a regular one and a b/w one breed 2 together. i wasnt planning on getting a mated pair but will if i have 2 are there any sites where i can get some good deals? one more question what are some low lighting corals that look like nems because i dont have money right now to buy a sufficient light for a nem. how big of a difference will it make whether they breed or not with out a nem.
thanks for the help

Maybe. It all depends on if it's a male/female pair. Most black and white clownfish will actually kill each other, from my experience.what is the difference between a b/w occelaris and a regular occelaris? One is black and white and the other is orange and white? The black and whites are fairly more agressive and get much bigger. can a regular one and a b/w one breed 2 together. No, they are two different species. By the way, don't abbreviate with numbers, that gets annoying. i wasnt planning on getting a mated pair but will if i have 2 are there any sites where i can get some good deals? We can not tell you other sites, it is against the rules of the board.one more question what are some low lighting corals that look like nems because i dont have money right now to buy a sufficient light for a nem. There are no corals that look like ANEMONES. Low light corals include zoanthids, mushrooms and daisy polyps.how big of a difference will it make whether they breed or not with out a nem.Regardless of the species, clownfish will breed without anemones.
thanks for the help.

It amazes me that people don't want to research anything these days. I lurked on forums for a year before I was even comfortable posting anything.
Kids these days... lol

Agreed. All I did was scout the forums for MONTHS before I even created a username. The funny thing is that if you view new posts, I'd imagine that thirty percent of the questions on there have been asked previously and you can find the answer in an old thread.... Except the aquarium threads started by CFR, cause those are just awesome. Ha!
Kydizzle, remember what i recommended in that other thread? you had ought to go buy that book "Clownfishes" by Joyce D Wilkerson. it talks a lot about pairing and mating clowns, its an excellent resource!
By the way, don't abbreviate with numbers, that gets annoying.
Also, agreed.
Random rant, not at all directed at you kydizzle, but It bugs me when people write in sms language/Txt Tlk/etc or substitute numbers with the actual number. like they are TRYING to look for ways to abbreviate! Such as the difference between "How are you doing evening?" people say "how r u 2nite?" I understand that it cuts down characters in text messages, but like, when that laziness turns from the sms into the threads? Come on now. Seriously though kydizzle, its not directed at you as a personal attack or anything, but, you know, annoying sometimes... Perhaps I should start a new thread in the aquarium about this!

Gee people, give the guy a chance lol. Talk about flaming his poor new-b rear end. What size is your tank its going in? How big is BIG? It probably can be done but I'd get the smaller one first, let it become established a little while in the tank before adding a much larger one. That way the larger one's aggression is somewhat curved by being the "new guy" in the tank. After a while it will still become dominant, but hopefully with less stress involved. You don't need an anemone to breed the clowns. If you want the look of an anemone buy a nice and full torch coral. My black and whites love them. And as long as the black and white is an actual ocellaris (false percula) and the orange and white is an actual ocellaris (false percula) they can be paired up and they WILL mate... Hope this helps.
