Please send up a little prayer...

My beloved little sheltie, Leo, was diagnosed this morning with lymphoscarcoma. He spent the day at the vet clinic today for IV fluids to try to flush calicum out of his system. Tomorrow I take him to see an oncologist in Madison to stage the disease and come up with a game plan. Very scary...
I will do what I need to do for him though...prayers are definitely welcomed.

My prayers are with you and Leo. My dog was diagnnosed with Addison's disease last year and it was terrifying! She is doing great right now but I know how you are feeling and my prayers are with you guys.

You got it
I work with dogs all day long, I see and hear stories such as yours many times a week, I also hear a lot of long term success stories. The field of canine oncology has come a long way over the last few years. Treat it just like a major human medical decision, do your research, ask to speak to 2 or 3 specialist if possible....
.
I have about a dozen customers right now who's doggies are on chemo, just as with humans, nutrition becomes a huge issue...Just make sure that you scan everything in Leo's diet for any type of CORN, WHEAT or SOYBEANS, these are clinically documented allergins for dogs, you don't want to compound the issue......If you need any canine nutrition help, drop me a line

Mona..thoughts and prayers are with you both.
seein stars....i had a pointer with addisons as well, now his sister has it as too
wishing you a full and speedy recovery

Thank you all, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart!!
This past couple of weeks has been very challenging to say the least. My "little Poopie" has never in his life had any kind of medicine in his little body except for some ear drops when he was 3 years old...not kidding, that's it.
He had his first chemo treatment on Thursday, October 11. He got progressively worse over the weekend with GI symptoms. When I first took him in on the previous Tuesday he weighed 21.4#. When I brought him in on Monday because of GI problems, he weighed 20.3#, then on Tuesday (only one day later) he had blood work done, he weighed 19.8#. This has been my biggest concern. I don't think I've ever been so greatful that he had some extra schpeck on his body.
Today we got some very encouraging news. Leo's oncologist called saying he was very excited to see the blood work results from yesterday. All are perfectly normal, well save for the ALT (liver function test)...but that's apparently normal because he's on prednisone for now.
Another very encouraging thing is that Leo has started to eat and drink, and is actually taking treats (chicken

[hr]
meat...that's it). He seems to be coming around quite a bit and getting back to being Poopie.
More as it occurs...again thank you all SO much!!

Maxalmon, PM sent.
Is it okay to give him boiled rice? I'm being encouraged to give Leo boiled chicken or lean ground beef with rice...he eats around the rice, ptewiii

Thanks for your help, response very welcome.
