Please settle this discussion....

Two men are having a discussion....Man #1 says that Catfish are preditors of Cod Fish, so when shipping Cod, salt water Catfish are included to keep the Cod from becoming too sedimentary. Man #2 says that Catfish are bottom feeders and do not prey on other fish, so that is not correct.
Can you settle this....discussion???

Catfish will definitely eat fish that they can fit in their mouths. I have experienced this many times with freshwater catfish.

Catfish are not picky eaters they will eat pretty much anything from soap to hotdogs to dog food and yes other fish. Pretty much anything they can fit into thier mouths. They are bottom dwellers and are not extremely fast swimmers. Therefore they do not always get to catch the fish they would like to eat. In our home aquariums room is limited so catfish do not work as hard and will eat other fish that cannot escape them................ This being said there are always exceptions.
