I have someone who can custom build me a stand for my new 240g long tank. Looking for pictures for design ideas. Please share your stand pics.
If you have a standard Oceanic/AGA/*****/Petsmart stand, thanks, but those are not what I'm looking for.
Thanks in advance.

Heres a pics of a couple of stands that were built by a couple of the local reefers the first one was built by Scopus Tang for our LFS owner and is split pine and one of the nicest looking stands I have ever seen.

The second one was built by Dennis210 for st8salt and there is a build thread on here somewhere that has additional pics. Its also a very nice stand and looks great.

I might have more pics of the split pine stand if you want more, I can't remember if I took pics of the lower portion of the stand or not.

the best way to build one. the most sturdy, two frames, two sets of legs, one supporting the inside of the tank and one set supporting the frames:

you dont need someone to custom build it for you, the supplies cost about $20 and its really easy to build my model, just make sure you use wood screws, not nails

Thanks for the tips.

Me build it?

I'm like the kid from the movie "The Breakfast Club".....straight A's, but almost failed woodshop.
The builder has a good reputation among my local reefers club. He can build it for about 20% of the cost of a store-bought stand/canopy. I'm happy with that.
I've always considered myself a re-engineer. No original creativity/imagination, but I can look at 10 different versions, see the strengths/weaknesses, and come up with the best solution.

I have a custom stand made of maple for my 240g. The stand itself is stainless 1"x2" tube with the lower cabinets built around the stand.

Don't know if this is what you had in mind, but it mine is custom made. The actual stand is hidden in the wall.
This is the view from my front door...

This is on the opposite side...

Ohhh....I like that. Where you have booksto the right I would have a nice little species tank plumbed into the main one. And to the left that end table could hide my chiller. And that cabinet above it could be a really pretty fuge!!!..... Very Nice!! I'm saving that!

all i used was 1 by 4's ,it has 5 upright pieces in the back and3 in the front ,there is a 2 by 4 header over the doors.
no need to over kill.
it is a 225 gallon.i still havnt stained it yet .
we moved and built a new stand and havnt gotten to it yet.
the sides are solid pine pieces and a rope edge on the top of the rim.

Here's a link to the bluepine/log stand and custom canopy build - may have a few good ideas for you, definitely cost more that $20 to $45, but its all about what you want.

The refugium is beneath the main tank and the chiller is actually plumbed out through the exterior wall. The chiller and the pumps live outside in a small chiller hut that is attached to the house.

Came out of nowhere with a sick 240g. Frogday, care to show any more of that tank?
Sure..tank has been running since 3/04. It is a 240 Tenecor acrylic with the usual mechanical/plumbing. It has a 6" DSB with 650lbs of live rock.
This is the 1"x2" stainless stand that actually supports the tank

Bare tank with 6" sugar aragonite

It looks like the tank sits on the bottom cabinets, but is really sunk about 4" below the surface.

There are 4 250w MH and 8 55w PC in the top on adjustable shelves that I have never actually adjusted since where they went in seems to work well enough. There is a bathroom fan that comes on with the lights to help vent the heat outside the exterior wall.

Most everything is controlled by an AquaController, so it is about as low maintenance as you can get.

Just my opinion. You want the tank to be the focal point. I would take the minimalist approach in making my stand and canopy
