How hot are vho's?

Don't know an exact temperature but I have both vho and pc's in my tank and without a fan they can get quite hot to the touch and radiate a lot of heat. I think my VHO's run a bit hotter than my PC's but with 2 fans on them they are ok.
I guess the best I can say is that if you hold your fingers on the VHO bulbs for roughly 5 seconds you'll have to take them off because of the heat- it starts to hurt.

Damn.
I had to put on a chiller. Even with a couple of fans they raised the temperature in the tank 4 degrees.

I have 4 48" VHO's (2 actinic blue's, 2 actinic white's) on an Ice Cap ballast, Solor 1000 light timer and 2 temp controled fans over a 120 gal tank and the temp stays at about 75 degrees all the time. when the lights go out all i need is one heater in the sump to maintain the temp. i've had it set for over 6 months now and i'm pretty happy with it. good luck.

im running 4x95 wt vho and 2x96pc and my pc's get a lot hotter than the vhos...I can run the vhos all day and touch them without problem. Dont get me wrong they are hot but nothing like the pc's
