Plenum in a BioCube?

So I apologize for this basic (dumb) question, but would it make any sense (or is there any harm) in putting a plenum in a 29 BC? Sure it would take up an additional 4" of vertical real estate, but beyond that what are some pros/cons? My plan is to have two gobies + two pistols, cleaning crew and some hard coral. Thanks very much!

Adding your plenum would work well for removing Nitrates. It would work exactly as well as a deep sand bed without a plenum.

Yeah, exactly. I was debating what value one would provide, under what situations would it be prudent to have one. (?) In some of the books I've been reading, they talk about the "need" to have them and how sand deeper than 2 inches creates anaerobic pockets where bad bacteria breed. In practice though, I've never actually seen a single picture of a BC with one. Perhaps it's b/c the books came out before there ever was a BC (e.g. old school reef tank philosophy.) Anyway, thanks very much for responding/confirming my suspicions.
