I'm getting ready to start working on plumbing for my 240 gallon tanks. Should I use pvc or rubber hose? Also if I use the pvc do you use regular pvc glue to connect everything?

Well if you use regular PVC yes, use the purple primer and regular cement. Personally, I went with regular PVC for most of my "static" plumbing and clear tubing with hose clamps for all pump connections.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about using the pvc for most of the plumbing, and the clear tubes for the pump intakes, return line, and overflows.

That's basically what I did so obviously I agree 100% with your ideas LOL ... one other note, avoid 90 degree elbows like the plague, you can buy what are called "sweeps" for making 90 degree turns and they use about half the "head pressure" of a regular 90 degree ell fitting. I didn't and boy do I regret it now, it's cut the return from my pump by almost half :( The sweeps are not as easy to find but if you look online or in a *good* plumbing supply you can find them. Just a suggestion that I wish I'd been given before I got this thing all put together.
Good luck and remember to post pics as you go :)

Just an addition to the sweeps sugestion..you can use two 45's instead of a 90, and make it the equivalent of a long sweep. Just another idea if you cant find the sweeps!!
