Hello to all,
I found a large worm in my filter media today. This bad boy does not look like a nice worm. Can you tell me if this is a problem worm to my coral? If so how can I treat my tank for them?
Thanks
Joel

It is a bristleworm. They are excellent scavengers and won't harm anything that is healthy. I would leave it in the tank. Just don't touch it, they sting.

Correction, it is a bristle worm. But this type of worm, will eat everything in sight.
The regular bristle worm, will eat detrius buildup. Fire worms are BADDD.

I had one plow over a nice colony of polips. I had to stay up all night to see him and catch him. It was a long night. I say toss him. Besides at some point you will get stung by him. There are also stories of these guys getting biy (mine was over a foot long) and taking down fish.

WOW... I think getting rid of it is better than taking a chance on it!
This one was about 3 inches. I do not want to risk any of my corals!
Thanks

Did I mention is was in my 12 gallon nano cube. It was a big bugger. 12" long and about 1" around. Well fed on my coral.
