i HAD a purple nudibranch (purple with orange antennae and orange flower looking thing on it's back....). the first few weeks i had him, he was always visible, on my LR and CC...i havent seen him for a few weeks....i figured he may be hiding somewhere in the LR, but now im not so sure....im thinking my brittle star may have eaten him....i know it's not in the powerheads/overflow, i've checked numerous times....now i've see posts which say they are poisonous, when they die to change out the water....if im not sure if it's dead, should i:
a. wait until it shows up again (hopefully), should i
b. tear apart all my LR and see if he really is dead? should i
c. assume the brittle star ate him and just leave it be...
any and all opinions are appeciated.....thanks,

I would say watch the tank and test the water if you have an ammoina spike then he died, and change the water. Most likely the little bugger is hiding in the rock and you'll see him in a bit. Don't worry if you don't have to. I wouldn't rip apart your LR looking for him it's stressful on you and the other critters in the tank plus you may not find him even after you look at each piece. Wait time will tell. If your worried do small water changes over the next couple of days and monitor your tank closely, thats MHO.

I found this on the web :
"If you use sea cucumbers make sure there is NO way one can enter into any pumps. If a cucumber gets stuck in a pump, it will potentially release extremly toxic substances into your tank. The only remedy is to start your reef tank over since no known anti-toxin exist. Yes, everything may die in your tank (strong skimming may save the day, but don't count on it). "
This is the web site check it out its just general info but it seems to be good info for reef tanks

I would look for the little guy but I wouldn't do anything drastic until some sign of death showed up.

the brittle star couldnt of eat it, or else it would be dead, remember nudibranchs are poisons and theres a reason for being posions, so no predetors will eat it, just a reminder:)
