I am thinking of going on holiday in September but I am worried about leaving my tank now that i have my fish. I do have someone who will feed the fish for me this time round but what does everyone do if they don't have someone to feed their fish??

There is a reputable guy in my area that runs an aquarium service... He can be a little pricy... but if friends can't help out... He would be my alternate choice.

they will be fine for a few days. they can live off the live rock just fine. it would be nice to have someone you trust come by and check the tank, just in case something stops working or the like. make sure it is someone responsible though, and that they know exactly what to do and what not to do. how long do you plan to be gone?

I am hoping to go away for 7 days. As fro top off i only usually have to do this once a week and about 6 or 7 litres.

6 or 7 ltrs? wow your not from around here are you. :D
IMO if you are gone less than 3 days you should be ok. if you are gone longer then you might need to find a frend to take care of the fish and leave detailed instruction on feeding when to turn on or off the lights.
also if you can get timers for your lights and I think their are automatic feeders??????
you might research them out also
hope this helps out

I have a good friend and neighbor who feeds the fish and tops of the tank for me. I know you can buy electronic feeders that feed fish onece a day automatically. They run about $40.

I went away for 4 days,3 nights for our Memorial Day holiday and slightly overfed as I walked out the door.I was happy to see all the fish alive upon returning but appaled to see my normally docile eel chasing my Heni around(presumably from the smell of the food I was feeding my other fish)As long as you don't have any aggressive fish(ie:eels) I think you'll be ok.
