Political threads

I am curious about how people feel about the political threads we have going here. I would like posts, but a vote is fine.
ONE RULE, and I mean it.............DO NOT DEBATE OR EVEN COMMENT ON A PREVIOUS POST. By this I mean that every post here is an opinion, and any post that debates, or comments on anyone elses opinion will be deleted. By doing this I hope to get opinions from those who wish NOT to debate, but have an opinion. If you post, this is the only thing......the only thing, that you should think about......
Do you feel the political threads should be here?

Focus ONLY on this question, and do NOT debate anything. Your post should only give a responses to this question. I can't think of a way to explain this more simply, so let's here your opinion.....

I feel very strongly that threads of a political nature should be allowed but would need to follow the same guidelines as all other threads. No flames...avoid foul language...keep things civil and sane.
Politics above all other things have a direct affect on all of our lives and the publics general attitude of "letting the powers that be" do what they do without their public intervention is dangerious.I seldom expose my political views but its very important to be able to express them publically.
This is a hobby related site but this particular forum was established as a place for OT discussions and politics is a topic that in these days NEEDS to be discussed before the masses continue to allow greedy/corrupt/liars to continue to run our country!

I voted "undecided". It should read, "I don't care". I don't care what topics are discussed. If I'm interested, I'll look through it. If not, I won't.

keep em! and they should even be kept alive if debating gets heated.
in my opinion, you have to be pretty mentally disturbed if you let yer day get ruined over somebody's opinion on an internet discussion board. so catering to these offended martyrs is just plain silly as far as i'm concerned.
sure there's people who say knucklehead comments every once and a while. but tossing the baby w/ the bathwater makes no sense. a political thread containing 50+ posts gets deleted because of ONE guy's off-the-wall comment??? y' know, there's a button at the bottom of each post that says "edit". there's also private message enabling where people can be warned of their offensive comments and have the manner discussed one-on-one rather than having either of the following unnecessary scenarios:
1. member starting thread crying about unfair mods
2. mod starting thread crying about offensive member
i've said it before too...changing the title & description to this forum could also help in reducing the amount of people offended by reading stuff.

Even though I rarely get involved in political threads, I think they should be allowed. However, participants in those threads should be expected to follow the same code of conduct that they have to abide by in the other forums. Honest discussion and debate is all well and good... but when it gets into name calling and flaming, the offending posts (not the entire thread) should be deleted.

I tried to vote but the ballot was too confusing

IMO they should be allowed only if the mods are willing to take the extra time to read through them to make sure they don't get out of hand. If so, then I agree with Bradttu - just like other threads if I think it's interesting I'll read it and if not, not.

the aquarium forum is specifically for offtopic discussion:thinking:
