I think they should set the early retirement age to 65 and standard to 67. But anyone who chooses to work beyond retirement age without collecting social security should be exempted from any income or FICA taxes. Good deal for everyone involved.

The problem with living longer, doesn't mean that everyone is able to work longer. Body still ages, even though our medical system has made longevity possible, it doesn't mean that most elder have the ability to work. Of course, some do, but if you have worked as a roofer all your life, at age 60, you are about done in and its really too late to start a new career for most people.
Of course, if you are a CEO, or a banker, white collar, then working longer makes sense. The vast majority of workers in this country don't have cush jobs, however.
Here is the problem with our current system. Medicines and treatments that keep us alive, doesn't make us younger. So you have a vast population of advanced elderly, living into 80s and 90s, many in nursing homes or assisted living with public funds paying for that, also getting SSA or SSI. People in their late 60s are not as employable as a young person who can physically do more and work for less pay.

I can't argue that, but what is the solution? The average life expectancy is no longer sustainable.

Yeah we have a Social Secruirty system with a Funding issue and Obama as part of the Stimulas CUT the Tax that FUNDED IT. Thats right he cut the FICA tax 2% that we as Employees pay 2% and now wants to make it Permenat excuse me Social Secrutiy is going Broke you do not make the hole in the bottom of the Boat LARGER. But then again he I swear he did not take Econ 101. Which is what ever you take in SPEND LESS.

So make a tiered system for those who are not able to go past 65 to retire for less than if they worked till 67. It wasn't that long ago that 65 was the minimum age period. Heck, we have 2 tiers now, create 3. 50% payments if you want to retire at 62, 80% at 65 and 100% at 67.

Take note that many countries have seen their citizens demonstrate, often violently, in opposition to their government taking away or reducing assistance. These demonstrators are seemingly unable to take care of themselves without help. Their government has set a system of dependance.
Here in America, there have been many demonstrations, all non-violent, in opposition to TOO MUCH government in our lives; urging our government to LEAVE US ALONE AND GET OUT OF OUR WAY!!

I think the main problem here is that people have forgoten what the gov is for it is a public SERVICE and is only suppose to look after your estate, NOT tell people what to do. They have forgotten that we are the masters not them and so have most people. The reason for kids messing about and thinking the way of theft ect. is because the mentality now is that we have no responcibilty for our actions as the gov has taken that away and said there lible for your actions making you contract with them and that way you have to follow there policys and statutes. I say take control of your own life and be lible for your actions after all its not like you can't be held accountable for your actions anyway.
Example: If i tell you to go and punch some one in the face and I will take all the libalty and you do it, you will still be going to jail but I will be there next to you. But this is the way insurance companys work they say there lible for your actions but there not as NOBODY can take your libalty from you but because of things like insurance people have lost there abilty to be responcable and that then rubs off on the kids.
If you drive you should not have to pay insurance and if you have an accedent its your problem as you have lost your car and thats your understanding that when you go on the roads you might get hit so if you spent a lot of money on your car your going to make sure you do not crash. And the first question most people ask (selfishly whitch is the point) is what happens to me if you hit me what do I get. I, I, I thats all people think about these days. Switch that to riding bikes you have a push bike and you have a crash and bend the wheel who has to pay for that. YOU do as its your responcibilty so why should it be differant for a car? Answer its not thats just what you have been lead to belive so they can get your money.

Laws are made to protect the public from irresponsible slugs who think they shouldn't be accountable for their own foolish actions. Otherwise you get into situations like one I saw years ago where a friend had his parked car hit by an illegal alien. When he found out the idiot had no license or insurance he beat the holy hell out of him. And the rest of us just stood and watched him do it. The jerk had it coming. You let people get away with messing with other people's life you'd see a lot more of that kind of vigilante justice handed out.

So, using that insanely brilliant logic, if some idiot hits my car, I should be the one responsible for paying for the damages since I knew what I was getting into by getting behind the wheel in the first place? What if I get hurt when someone hits me? Should I have to pay medical bills for something that was clearly someone else's fault?
