Where do you keep your powerheads? On the side of the tank on the back, pointing upwards pointing downwards in the rockwork? Curious on how everyone is doing thier tanks for ciculation.

Well, I don't know that much but the person who set up my tank sure does. He placed one powerhead on each side of the glass. The one on the right is higher than the one on the left. The right one is pointing directly towards the front left corner of the tank. The right one is pointing directly towards the front center of the tank. This creates flow all around the tank. Everything moves with a nice calm flow. I think the key was having the heads one higher than the other.

I have my returns (mag 12) facing parrallel with the bottom of the tank, blowing out across the tank.
I have a maxijet blowing behind the rockwork, 1/2 down the wall on the back.
A seio 600 something is at the top of the side pane, facing a little twords the back of the tank blowing across the workwork, and same thing on the other end.
My tank is a 125 mixed reef.

I have one PH in the back behind the LR. My CLS returns point towards the opposite corner. With the SCWD, the flow changes. The return from my sump points straight across and points slightly upward to create small ripples on the water surface for aeration. I took advice from this sight and used a piece of thread attached to my tongs and looked for dead spots.

2 Aquaclear 20. My tank is a 46 gal. Bow. I also have a protein skimmer and a Fluval 305 filter which is also pushing water towards the center of the tank. You have a huge tank don't ya?

Do i still need more powerhead to my 55 galloon tank..
One powerhead that actually my return pump from my sump is located across from my prefilter box and is it pointing across bottom. Also have Aqua Clear 50 Power Head that is rotating near my prefilter box..Do I still need to get one that is fully submerge to my aquarium.

I had a couple Aquaclear ones and all they did was blow out bubbles no matter what I did. Cleaned them tipped the upside down everything and every once and a while no matter what....more bubbles. I took them out and got a couple Maxi Jet 600's and have not been happier. That tip with the thread is a good idea.
