Why not a choice for "sand" ? I don't run a DSB, just a sandbed.

I Agree with Sammy - Thats all I have is a sandbed or if you prefer a 2 inch sandbed

Well, i run DSB about 5" deep. I know that unless the very bottom layer of it is disturbed i have nothing to worry about. That's why the only bottom dwelling creatures that i've got are fighting counch.

Hi,
Something told me i should have come up with the default of 4 options, I guess I should have listened. For some reason in my simple little mind i was thinking of DSB and sandbed as the same thing.
I guess for now just answer DSB for a regular sandbed unless a mod can update it for me, pretty please.

DSB or just sand bed will be much better than a regular CC. Some reefkeepers say that the best way is just no substrate at all. As Broomer5 says "Your tank ~ Your choice".

20galSW, I threw in shallow sand and no substrate. I hope you don't mind. I assumed thomas chose other for his shallow bed, as did I, so I switched two to shallow to keep it accurate.

Just curious, how many inches denotes a Deep Sand Bed vs a Shallow Sand bed?

more than 4, less than 4, usually starting around 5 " for dsb. shallow would be anything less than 4" down to almost none. less than almost none of course being bare.
