Hay graham, I just purchased a yellow longnose today. I put him in my tank and I offered him some frozen brine shrimp and he attacked it first thing. I have a number of different corals in my tank and watched him all day. So far he has not picked at any of the corals. I still have my fingers crossed. He is a beautiful fish and I sure would hate to take him back to the lfs. If I have any problems with him I will let you know.

The yellow longnoses are easily adaptable, but the ones you are speaking of Hartley IMO are very different. From my experience it is a rare individual of those listed species that will settle, and if one ever does you should snatch it up. However there are so many beautiful butterflies that are now easily "keepable" due to better shipment methods and food availabilities. Go for those and save yourself the heartache. IMO, regardless of the advances in the hobby, some species should be left in the wild. For every success story with certain species, there are a thousand failures.
