i purchased some LR from my LFS and it has what the LFS said were 'snake polyps'. any help on what these are? i can post a pic for clarification. they are in a FOWLR tank, lighting is NO fluorescent, 1 actinic, 1 power glo.
i am asking for a few reasons: 1 - curiosity as to what animal it is; 2 - their behavior : the polyls close up as soon as the lights come on, so they seem to be nocturnal - exactly the opposite of what i expect from coral; 3 - reproduction - they seem to propogate via fission. i found a small polyp on the sand bed the other day, and when i first purchased the rock, i found one as well. i thought that maybe the polyp had dislodged, but after some inspection, that was not the case.
