The tank is 34 gallon and the water levels all turned out fine , the lighting is a 55 watt retrofit for the eclipse3.

Actual water readings would be helpful. Has anything changed in the last couple of weeks? Lighting cycle, bulbs, tempature spikes, high levels of nitrates (above 10) etc.
Do you know what kind of polyps they are. Star, sea mats, colony, button, etc

There have ben no changes and the tank has ben stable. they are brown button polyps.
I have no idea what has happened to them.on further inspection , there are some tiny white spots on some of the closed up ones.almost looks like ich , but on polyps.

Wht else is in the tank? Have you added anything recently? Look for a thin sprial disk shaped snail with black lines or spots on a white shell. These snail are well known for eating polyps and leaving the white spots. o you have anything else close that could of stung the polyps?

55Watt eclipse is very poor lighting.
Without you water parameters, your on your own when it comes to good advice.
Good luck,
