Popeye tang

I've got a yellow tang with popeye (stupid powerheads - microbubbles). The tang has had it for about two weeks. He's been in quarantine for about a week. The eye has gone down considerably since putting him in qt, but not entirely and the eye is still red. The fish has difficulty seeing out of the right eye. I think he is getting better, but he is not eating. He may be nibbling an algae strip, but will not touch any prepared foods - even when put right in front of him.
Is this normal, or do I need to try something different?

Treat with Maracyn Two for SW fish. Is that a cycled QT, however? Micro bubbles are not going to cause an eye infection.

No, the qt is not cycled, which makes me nervous about leaving him there for too long. I don't think the eye is infected - maybe irritated. When I say microbubbles, I mean about a million. My tank looked like a bubble wall for about a week until my new powerheads came in. Millions of microbubbles.

How long have you had this fish? Were the microbubbles in the qt or dt? Is the LR from your display? How old is the display? If the rock is from a display that is over 3-4 months old then it will be enough biological bacteria. I wouldn't dose Maracyn just yet. Worse has been cured with prestine water quality and a healthy diet dosed with vitamines. What do you feed him?

I've had the fish for 2 years. The microbubbles were in my dt. The liverock - 10 lbs - was from the lfs, I'm rearranging and adding some liverock in the dt. The liverock was just sitting in the qt waiting until then, had been there a couple of days. I've been feeding the sick fish w/ algae sheets and a variety of frozen foods - mostly mysis dosed w/ garlic.
I have maracyn, but was afraid to dose the tank, out of fear I would creat die-off and get a cycle going. But, I'm also afraid that the fish waste and food will create a cycle. I did not have a qt tank ready for this emergency.
Stupid powerheads started all this - switched to Koralias now though.
