Porcupine Puffer Feeding

I've had a porcupine puffer for a few months now and I was told it would eat just about anything. However, all I can get it to eat is live rosy reds. I have two snowflake eels that I feed the rosy reds to and he is like a vacuum!!! I have to put a couple in, let the puffer eat them, then wait a while and put some more in. When he gets full, then the eels can get some.
I am wondering what and how often other people feed their puffers. And should I try to get him to eat other stuff for nutritional value?
Thanks

Feed him well every other day, and roses arent the best for him. Try to get him on frozen foods. U should be at the point now where hell eat anything u put in the tank, cuz hes assuming that ittl be food. So just try dropping in some shrimp or squidd. Their diets in the wild consist mainly on shrimp and squid, and crabs as well. You should buy some fresh chunks of shrimp/squidd ath the fish store, maybe some crabmeat. Buy only a lil less than a weeks suplly, and keep it in the fridge. Feed him maybe like one sizeable chunk of shrimp and a bit of squid one night, then wait a day and feed him sumthing else, every other day. Also, another treat, if u live by the water (which u dont cuz u live in philadephia) u can look under rocks and get little fiddler crabs. Toss one of those in and enjoy the bloodshed! You can also feed him crawfish as well. Fish isnt the best for them, and not a really good way to feed them for a year, so give him a really healthy selection right now and hell be loving you.
SO:
-Fresh Shrimp (buy maybe 2-3 large/jumbo shrimp UNCOOKED)
-Squidd (fresh or frozen, just a little bit of it. Tentacles are better than the body)
-Crabmeat (like chunks of lobster, small bits, or just crab meat/fresh or frozen)
-Live (crabs, crawfish, etc. If you want, I might be able to get some crabs from the sound and pacakge em and send em to you. Id say $5 plus shiping and u can have em, keep em in a bucket or a spare tank. A real nice treat)
That should be a good diet for yer puffer. Make sure that you leave the shell on the shrimp cuz it will help to keep his beak trimmed, and the crabs will help too. Any other questions, please email me Chandler044@aol.com
