Porcupine Puffer fish

Hey all, I just picked up this new addition. I have him aclimating to the QT right now as I type. It's been about an hour and 20minutes. I was told by the LFS that I shouldnt use a net to get him from bucket to tank, because if he should "puff in air" while he's out of water, then he can die. I asked if that was the same condition that Humans get when they scuba dive and can get emobli. She said, it's similar.
I was also told that periodically, I should give him whole clams, or shrimp with the shell on so he can chomp on the shell. This would keep his sharp teeth from getting too large. Has anyone heard of this?
And finally, I guess I can keep him in QT for 4 weeks? is that too long?

4 weeks is perfect QT time.
and yes, if they dont have shells to gnaw down their teeth, they will grow too long causing many problems leading to death....like the hamsters of the sea

Puffer finally ate today. I gave him Krill, and he gobbled it right up. Wouldnt take it from the tongs like my eel does. I had to drop right in front of him. He also scooped up and empty crab shell, and kind of chomped on it for a bit, then spit it out. He's a cool fish. I've named him "Herman"
