I have a new porcupine puffer. In my 50 gallon tank for about 5 days. It will not eat. I have tried clam and krill. It has started to hide today...seems to have lost its energy. What should I do? It is not being harrassed.

How long has the tank been set up? Is this a display? Are there other fish in there? Please post your EXACT water readings for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph, SG, and temp. This is a puffer, pick up a clam, muscle or oyster with the shell, but crack it for him.

Try snails!

I just purchased a porcupine puffer and I've been reading a great deal about them from various sources. One website suggested offering snails as their first meal, since that is what they likely snacked on in the wild.
I hope your little guy does well! They're so adorable and intelligent.
