porky puffer

I got a new porky puffer on Tuesday, I feed him yesterday and today. Yesterday was a froozen seafood mix, today was krill with garlic. Both times he ate the food and then spit it out, and did this over and over. is he actually eating, or does he not like it.
What do you think.

thats something youll have to live with when you have a puffer theyll do that many times taking piece by piece of it and sspitting it out and sucking it in. you need some good filtration for puffers

when my puffer spits out his food, he doesnt like it. Certain foods he just dont like. Ive tried feeding him, one thing he likes, then next something he dont, and he spits out what he dont like everytime or when he's had enouph he spits it out also. maybe try other foods. mine likes cut up shrimp and scallops, peas, krill, sqid, and theres alot he dont like. Good luck with him, porkys are very intersting fish.

I agree with cinhark. My puffer used to spit food out because he didn't like it. If he liked it he would swallow it whole. I would say that if your fish does not appear to be eating it. then it probably isn't. Try soaking your food in garlic, and try without the garlic. My porky wold only eat kent garlic extreme. My porky would not eat river shrimp. He would only eat wardleys krill. It is trial and error. You will figure it out. try a couple of different kinds of food. See what he eats an doesn't eat. You can also try cockel (sp??). It looks like a small cla with meat in it. The puffer will crack the shell open and eat the meat. This will also keep his teeth filed. You don't really have to worry about porkys teeth overgrowing. More so with dogfaced puffers.

When my puffer eats he will chew, and then spit it out. He will do this over and over, until he's eaten most of it.
Sometimes, if he doesn't care for what I'm feeding, he will just spit it out, and leave it alone.

When My porkie was in the QT/grow out tank he would chew-spit-chew-spit his food...
Now that he's in the main tank with a little "competition" he grabs what he can and swallows it quick...

Update - He is eating the Krill, usually one big bite, spits it out and then eats it all. It is a battle between him and my Niger to see who can eat first. If the Niger gets it first he takes it and hides in the rocks. Then I give the puffer his own.
They both seem to be very happy,
