hi,
Well dorm rooms only allow up to a ten gallon tank, i just so happen to have devoted myself to one for the past two years. the tank is well established with some soft corals, assorted invets and a perc clown. i would love to have it in my dorm but i am not sure if it would be possible or worth the risk to transport it the 190 mile drive from home to school. And the hour to my brothers for christmas break. Just a few weeks ago the bottom of hte tank fell out, i have a new tank and most everything surrvived the break, i onlky lost a sexy shrimp and awsome coralline alge growth on the glass. Should i wait for the system to settle more from the break, or is it not even possible to attempt the move? If it is possible how can i safely move everything? do i risk the move?
i am have no clue what to do so any opinions would be great! thanks :happyfish

hever had to move a tank but i have ideas.... first off... bag everthing the day before the tank move except the live stock... u bag that last.. so have them in a bucket or whatnot with a ph ( or even a good air pump.. cuzz a ph might be too strong..) you probaly would like to keep fish and inverts in the dark as not to stress them as much.. also have a 5 gals of pre-mixed ro/di water ready for the move.. save 5 gals of the tank water.. put everything in a cooler on for the trip.. so not to have crazy temp fluctuations... then bag the livstock right befor u move.. then put them in the dark too.. then u drive !!!! lol to the dorm.. set the tank asap.. dont add livestock.. but only sand lr and the 5 gals of old tank water and 5 gals of new ro/di saltwater... let it sit for a bit.. then do a test.. then of things are good .. add the livestock.. ( this is just how i'd do it.. like i siad i never did it before but it seems just about right.. )

Thanks,
Thats about what i was figuring, i am just nervouse i may loose everything. But leaving it homewith my clueless parents is almost as risky as bringing it! i may wait untill secon semester so i wont have to move it again on x-mas break.
i know this is a salt water sight but anyone have an opinion of having a six inch oscar in a 10 or 15 gal? is that way to small even for the short term?
well any other opinions would be welcome...thanks :happyfish
