hey guys and gals,
i have my eye on a 180 gallon fish tank from a friend of mine. i currently have a 55 gallon.. how the heck will i light that big of a tank? right now i have PC for my 55 i was thinking of making my own set up of PC's for the 180 if i get it.. going to mainly be a FWLR and maybe a few beganner corals.
would a 55 gallon sump be way out of the question for the tank, hes only asking 100 bucks for the tank. no leaks either. but man the evaporation on that thing would be like crazy, would def. have to get my own RO/DI unit for that thing.. its going in the basement since i dont want the thing crashing thru our living room floor.

that 55g would make a killer refugium or sump
that would turn that 180g into a 235g (in theory).. your fish should do really good

Remeber the tank may be cheap but the supporting equiptment is not... I found that out the hard way...
A good skimmer for that you're looking at $300-$600
Lights...Maybe $400-$800
Lots of other things too..LR,LS,PH,Filters..
Just something to keep in mind...I learned the hard way thinking the same thing "oh this tank is cheap!", $6,000.00 later :scared:

Buy it and store it, till your ready to set it up...
Deals like that don't come around everyday...
Or..Buy it and re-sell it, a little "profit" could help up grade the 55...

it is very easy to sell big tanks like that on "that auction site"
people are willing to drive to pick them up if they can get it cheaper than their lfs
trust me....
