Thanks. That's a sweet setup. I'm starting ideas for a new cube tank, and I like that size.

You can still have interesting aquascaping with "the wall" effect. Just a thought.
That's simply not true. You do not need a ton of rock to have good "bio filtration". I'd be willing to be that the tank shown has great "bio filtration".
Azfish- I think it's a great idea!! With your 6' tank you could do some wicked aquascaping. The tank you showed is amazing, and it really opened my eyes. I just re-arranged my tank as well, going for the cleaner look, with an open sand bed and more rock showing. The covered look was nice with the zoanthids everywhere, but it just looked to busy. With time past, tastes change, and change is sometimes for the better.
Good luck with the new configuration!! I can't wait to see what you come up with.

I would love to see a picture of your tank.

I will take some new shots here in a couple of days
Still finalizing placements, weeding out some corals/rock, and fragging so my tank is still kind of a mess. The rock work is still kind of the same as I liked my scape, but with a less crowded sand bed and more of the rock showing

LR isnt too hard to drill through. I mean, if I can drop it from knee height and have a piece of it crack off, then it shouldnt require too much. I would say put some PVC pipe in there for some support, but Im not sure what building materials would be safe to use. Id say underwater apoxy, plastic fittings, or something along those lines. No rebar

Hey AZGirl! Long time no chat!
Here's my 125gal setup. Not too much, just a large acan colony, a recovering brain, some xenia and caulerpa. No fish, long story...

This is the second aquascape. Made the right column with an acrylic rod and 'AquaMend' (reef epoxy). The left is pretty much built up on that huge shelf rock (probably over 45lbs, 20"+). Sorry for the weak pics, stupid point and shoot cameras

Thanks for the pics AquaKnight! I like your stucture on the left side.

Did you get your AquaMend from Home Depot? That is what the guy used from the first picture I posted and I think he said he got it at Home Depot. My husband went to Lowe's and got Loctite Epoxy, but it does say Marine Grade and cures underwater. However, since you are the second person to use AquaMend, I think I will run to Home Depot and see if I can find some.

Thanks AZ! Yep, it's the Aquamend stuff from Home Depot. Wasn't 100% satisified with it though, the bond to LR wasn't the greatest. It's more to keep the rocks from spinning more then anything, the rod should be the main support.

My, My, aren't we impatient. Yes, I went to the lfs and found three great looking rocks that I think will work nicely. I need to go to Home Depot tomorrow to buy the Aquamend, found out the other apoxy that my husband bought won't work as well. But I might not get to the actual rebuilding until Saturday or Sunday.
I know it's going to be a long project so I want to make sure I have a large enough block of time to do it.
The new lfs I went to was VERY cool. They are still putting things together, but they had this one tank with a 15" Unicorn Tang, very cool.

Hey Lady, Sounds like we are starting the same project. I have my water brewing, and getting my tubs ready. I plan on tearing my tank apart tommorow for a much needed aquascaping update and major cleaning.
Have fun.

That sounds great Teresa! I'm also mixing some new saltwater and have my new live rock that I picked up in a tub with a heater and powerhead just waiting to go in. I went to Home Depot today and picked up some small PVC pipe and elbows. I also tried to get some Aquamend Apoxy, but they were out. I drove to another Home Depot and they were also out.
So now I have to either wait until they get some, or call around to see if I can find it.
Does anyone else have some more pics?! I'd love to see more.

I am somewhat baffled with the idea that less rock will not decrease the bio filtration. I am simply stating that she has tangs and a flame angel, that need rock on which to graze, and decreaseing the amount will stress them. If you see, she stated that she is not decreasing rock....wasn't sure on this when I posted my comment.
Not starting anything but, you have a 29g tank, have you had larger tanks to back this statement up? I am curious, because any article, reef book, or forum you go on says that the more rock you have is better for the filtration. Yes, you can have less, but you better have one kick a... filter, skimmer etc. and excellent husbandry.
With the rock she has, and the open spaces....not jambed packed....she should be able to rearrange to create the open effect she is going for.
Good luck with this.
Azfishgal, I am sorry to vent here, but I felt it was necessary to defend what I was trying to say. I wish you all the luck. Maybe try to get some tonga branch, or other types of rock. It appears most of your rock is figi.....excellent rock, but not really artistic in shapes. I have a lot of it myself. I added some tonga branch to create openings for caves, very neat effect. Also got some buna branch that is awesome. Just a thought.

No worries as I knew what you were saying and I agree with it. I have some great new pieces that are flat and should help me create some great shelves and maybe even a bridge. I'll have to see how creative I will get and yes, I may get some more tonga branch as well.
