I have a stupid question....do you have to have moon lights for a FOWLR tank or reef tank, for night time???

I would have to look to be sure, but I'm pretty sure I'm running exactly what you're getting. Is your 37gal a high?? My critters are all happy as can be, and all have grown and flourished. You'll be fine, just be sure to research before putting anything new in the tank.

Nope, I'm running what Dreamreef is running...I was running the 130watts before my most recent change. You're going to love the difference in how your tank looks/progresses.

yea mine is 37g high 30 inches long 12inches wide. only thing I dont like is the center plastic suport at the top its right below the moon light but the moon light is still able to shine in the tank to the sides just not straight down

Joe,
You and I have exactly the same tank...aren't 30" long lights hard to find?? I thought so. Anyway, the light fixture I have actually has 2 moonlights, one on each side of the brace, so that hasn't been a problem for me. I think as long as there is some light getting in, you should be fine.
This is so nice to find a thread with successful tanks using "only" pc lighting. Post more pics if you can. I'm off to see if I can get some decent pics with the actinics and later on the moonlights. Back later...IF I can get some pics...
Mmmmm, no pics this evening...batteries need recharging on the camera, sorry. I'll try to remember to post pics tomorrow evening.

actually I found quite a few. Well thier isnt as large as of a selection as there is for 24 and 36 inch tanks but what got me was i wanted a acrlic lid instead of a glass one so I mesured my tank and went to lowes (its like home depot for those who dont know what it is) and gave them the specs I purchased some acrilic for $10 dolars and they where able to make me three lids perfect dimensions for my setup they did this for free it was pretty nice of them and i have back up lids. I saw some glass lids that where not exactly what I wanted and they where about $20 dolars each. the acrilic suits my needs alot beter than the glass would of.

All I know is that when I decided to purchase lights to replace my stock lights, it seems like it took me forever to find 30" pc lights...then again when I wanted to replace THAT fixture, yeah, it took me forever...but I feel that I've found exactly what I need to create the ecosystem that I'm going for. Hopefully the bulbs aren't going to be so hard to get to.

thanks mona, I only have inverts in it right now i had a bad case of ich and was told I could put malachite green directly in the tank by a unknowledgble lfs. and it caused alot of problems and I lost all my fish
So Idecided to research more get some more equipment and have it beter suited for my future goals for the tank. I keep looking at your frogspawn and am thinking after my tank is done adjusting to the light enhancment I might have to get me one of those. I also want to get buble coral but worried it well get to big for my setup.
Also if any one has ever had sps coral but did not use MH lighting post pics if you have them and tell me of your sucess (I know that every one says you need MH for sps coral but I want to see if thier is any exceptions.) lets be daring.
