my parrot is small only like 2 icnches at the most but did i see sand on the bottom of your fw tan ki am buying a new tank pref. 50 gal ( if i get this can you fw ppl out there help me cuz i have been runin a small fw and know nothin about bubblers airstones or ne thin lol or establishing bacteria ?)with stand check out the details in the nano section and let me know if its a good deal but can i use sand somehow on the bottomk of my fw.. does it cause a lot of ammonia when it gets stirred or do you just disturb it every couple of day so it dont build up

hey bill, u can use sand and i would. use any kind u want. my cichlids loved it! they would sift it through their gills. i never worried about any ammonia or anything with my FW. just put it in and let it settle before u turn on ur filters or put fish in! i used sand that was like aragonite from the beach and just boiled it. it looked really cool. are u askin what equip. u need for a 50? u can do very simple or as ccrazy as SW. i would do an AC110 and a heater. but u could do powerheads, air stones what ever u want its just not needed.

ok so a filter and heater is good no other powerheads?
also where did you get your sand? did you buy it or get it and boil it.
can i buy it from some kind of craft store and give it a boil? (how do you do this as far as straining?)
