My 55 gallon tank has been running with fish and inverts for about 6 months now. Current residents include:
20-25 little hermits. (red n blues)
20 snails
1 Coral Banded Shrimp
3 small Emerald Crabs
One Sally Lightfoot Crab
1 Lawn Mower Blenny
1 Clown fish - good size
1 Scopas Tang -small
50 lbs of live rock
I would like to add one more fish. A dwarf angel . I was thinking
of a Flame, Lemon Peel or Coral Beauty. I now considering a Potters Angel. I have heard they are sometime difficult to keep.
Does anyone have an opinion on this?
Thanks

Two of the books I have indicate the Potter's Angel should be relegated to advanced fishkeepers. I think they are one of the most striking fish that I've ever seen, but I'm going to hold off myself to I've got a lot more experience and a bigger tank (if ever). The Conscientious Marine Aquarist lists it in the species to avoid and cite a poor survival rate in captivity. I like the Flame Angel too, and its reputation for being in captavity is a lot better.

Potters angel are definately fragile fish in my experience. They are extremely sensitive to changes in water quality and can be finicky eaters. I had one that had been doing really well until I got careless and tried to adjust my salinity to rapidly.
