I have heard the horror stories about PBT being ICH magnets. Anyone have any thoughts about one of these in a reef? I was thinking about getting one but if they are a PITA to keep healty then I am not goting to do it. Anybody have one and not have an ICH problem? Thanks!!

I have 3 240 gal tanks and just about 30 fish, I have never had any luck with Powder blues. I've tried it 3 times and all have died from ich. Idon't know how any pulls it off, I'm convinced they should stay in the ocean. They're really beautiful but there are alot of other tangs that are just as nice and very hardy.

I have had mine for a year. No problems. Have plenty of LR for it to graze on.
If you plan on getting more tangs I would get them first. The bigger the powders get the more territorial they are towards new fish. Adding fish at night while everyone is asleep has always helped me. Gives them some time to get comfortable without the other tank mates constantly investigating him.
Hope any of this helps.

They can only get infected if there is ick present they may be more susceptible to infestation then other fish but again ick has to be present an other reason to QT and perform Hypo

I had one for till he became too big for the tank. No worse than a Hippo from my experences. Was a very active fish and a pig too. I think handling is an issue when first getting one.

I agree, Ich has to be present in the tank for the tang to get ich. I definately agree with florida joe, that every fish needs to be quarantined for 30 to 90 days and hypo'd, THEN added to an aquarium.
Good luck.
