Hello,
It is claimed that PC lights have almost double the intensity of VHO lighting. Does anyone have experience with PC's? Do they in fact have nearly double the intensity?
Thanks

I use pc's and can tell you the 96 watt bulb is pretty darn bright.
Unfortunatly I can not answer your question though as I have never used vho or seen vho and pc's side by side to evaluate.

PCs are definately more intense and go deeper into the water. Double sounds high to me too but I'm a VHO bigot ;)

not to steal a post but i also have a question about pc lights. right now i'm still using the flo. lights that came with the tank, looking for something brighter like pc's but i don't like the blueish colors, i like just the plain white light like with the flo. only alot brighter than what i have now. any suggestions for a 55 FO.?

PC 50/50 bulbs will produce a very intense light, will enhance the coloration of your animals, and still not look too blue to notice.

There are pc "daylight" tubes also that have very little blue light. The blue light is only really important when keeping inverts (coral, anemones, etc.)

Ditto, Also the new 50/50 smart lamps are great with not hardly any blue look at all and you still give the desired spectrum for good coral health.
