I DON'T WANT TO GO THROUGH THE MESS OF SHIPPING THEM. HOWEVER I DO HAVE A 48" PC COMPLETE HOOD WITH LEGS. THIS UNIT IS BARELY USED. PAID 245 NEW WILL LET GO FOR $175. I UPGRADED TO MEDAL HALIDES AND HAVE NO USE FOR IT ANY MORE. IT HAS TWO ACITNIC BULBLS AND TWO 10000K WHITE BULBS LIKE I SAID BARELY USED. TOTAL WATTS OF HOOD I THINK WAS 260 WATTS

Will these fit on any hood? I have an AGA 55g. tank (48") but it has a brown perfecto hood on it. Just want to make sure it would fit. If so, I'll seriously think about it.

I DON'T THINK YOU MEAN TO SAY THE WORD HOOD B/C THIS IS A COMPLETE HOOD LOOK AT THE PICTURE I SENT YOU TOO. I THINK WHAT YOU MEAN TO SAY IS WILL THIS FIT ON MY CANOPY AND AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A LITTLE MORE THAT 48" FROM ONE SIDE OF YOU CANOPY TO THE OTHER THAN YES IT WILL FIT.

Can't call ya now -- at work. I have no experience with high output lighting so please forgive my lack of knowledge and stupid questions :)
How much will these lights heat up my tank? My tank runs at about 78-79 degrees now without high output lighting.
What kind of coral can I keep with what you are selling, and is there anything else I will need?

have no fear i have 70 something post since joining this site and i would bet 90% of what i have posted are stupid questions.
anyway if you do not have a canopy it will not heat up your tank at all.
there is nothing else you would need with these lights except maybe a timer so you can run them when you want. one good thing is the blue acitnic lights are on a seperate plug from the daylight bulbs so you can set a timer to simulate sunrise to daylight to dusk to night with these lights. what you do is set the blue acitnic lights to come on an hour before the daylights turnon and then have the daylights turnoff and the acitnics stay on for another hour.
being a beginer corals are a whole nother world for you. i have not fully got into the corals myself. i am at the beginer stages of obtaining coral myself. all corals require different lighting and different currents. to begin to think about corals you also have to start by getting your calcium to the right levels b/c calcium is an essential elements for coral to thrive. with these lights on a 55 gal tank you will have a little more than 4 watts per gallon which will support most coral. so after this long drawn out post yes these lights will support most coral but not all it all depends on the individual piece of coral.
