Power Gravel Vacuum ~ anybody use it?

The Power Gravel Vacuum is totally different than Python. It's kind of similar to what you'd get if you are running Magnum 350 canister filter and attach a vacuum to that. The water goes through the filter and is returned back to the tank. That way you can clean the SB longer than what you could with a regular vacuum siphon. I constantly end up taking more water out than intended when I vacuum the bottom.

What prevents it from sucking up sand in the process?

You can control the flow of any vacuum device and not suck up any sand by simply pinching the hose periodically as you vacuum.
