I would recommend a maxi-jet power head. But sorry i don't know what gph would be good for your tank.

I am new myself but I have 2 Maxi-Jet 900's and an Emperor 400 HOB filter for my 29 gal. I don't know what you plan on keeping in your tank. I plan on having a reef setup with corals eventually. That's why I have a lot of water flow.
Good Luck, Steve

Depending on what you have in your tank, you should probably have at least 500-700 gph total from all of the power heads. I would recommend maxi-jet 1200s. They are AUSOME!!!

2 Maxijet 1200s they are a lot smaller and will outlast the Koralia by a decade easy IMO.

hmm, 30 gallon tank with at least a 10x turnover rate would be about 300gph that you would need. However, in smaller aquariums flow doesn't just depend on that. A lot of the gph coming off of a powerhead gets lost when pushing around the walls of the tank. That's why it is better to get a larger powerhead or two to begin with.
I would personally go for a tunze nano stream if I had the money! However, money is generally tight upon startup, so I suggest getting a couple of maxijet 1200 powerheads, and maybe mod them for 1600gph.
Depending on if you are getting a fish only tank or, in the future going to have a reef tank, get the larger flow. You will have a much healthier system.

Where did you get the Hydor Koralia and how much were they? Thanks

I would get 2-3 maxi-jet 900's, they use less then 1/2 the wattage the 1200's use for close to the same output.

Well if your going to think about Koralia I have to agree with Snake, get a Tunze 6025 instead they blow Koralias away. They are smaller and far more powerful and if you want to moddify one you can get even more power out of it, but I would not for this size tank unless you were thinking of going SPS. However I still say go with the 2 MJ1200s as they are cheap, effective, last almost forever and when you upgrade to a larger powerhead in the future (which you will), you can still use them to pump water for water changes.
