Power heads where do you put them?

I have a55 gallon salt water tank with 1 power head at one end of the tank. Do i need another one? and where do i put it? thanks all.

Welcome to the BB! Anyway, how big of a power head(1200,800,500)?? I would say get 1, 1200 power head and have the on the opposite end of the other power head so they are both pointing into the middle of the tank. I hope i helped.

Do you have a sump with a return pump? If so, that will be one powerhead... Put the other on the opposite end. You can add more later if more current is needed. It is my belife that current is very important to all corals. It's what brings the food to the coral.

Some corals need more current than others. SPS are current needers, fox corals not so much. Imagine you are in the ocean...that is a lot of current. But some areas get more action than others. I believe in matching the current with the coral. Same philosophy with lighting. Mushrooms don't need as much lighting as clams.
