Power Heads

I couldn't find a disscussion on these.
im going to have a 55g reef and i need to know how many and what rating the power heads need to be. and would i need to get a wave maker?

i would use two maxi jet 900s.....230gph use only 9 votts of power. You could use the maxi jt 1200 but they use 20 watts of power and only give you a pump rate of 280 gph.

my lfs is having a sale on them, buy 2 get one free. so i was leaning on getting 3. god this is an expensive hobby.
worse then fixing up a '69 camaro
